Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2^nd October 1869. This day is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti by the people to show respect towards Gandhi. This day is also celebrated as the international non-violence day by people all around the world. The United Nations General Assembly announced on 15 June 2007 a resolution declaring 2^nd October as International day of non-violence.
