He stood against the practice of untouchability

Untouchability is a social system in which people belonging to lower strata of society are restricted by people belonging to higher classes from interacting with them socially. Gandhiji was against this system that was being followed in India against the dalits. He used to address the dalits as harijans and fought for providing them with equal rights in the society.
